Autism & ADHD Testing – Frequently Asked Questions

What is Autism & ADHD testing (neurodivergent testing)?

Autism & ADHD testing, also known as neurodivergent testing, is a comprehensive evaluation designed to assess for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), or both. The process may include clinical interviews, standardized assessments, behavioral observations, and a detailed diagnostic report with individualized recommendations.

Who is this testing for?

This evaluation is appropriate for children, adolescents, and adults who:

  • Have complex or overlapping symptoms

  • Need diagnostic clarity

  • Require formal documentation for school accommodations (IEP/504 plans) or workplace accommodations.

  • Want a thorough understanding of strengths, challenges, and support needs

Is neurodivergent testing required for an ADHD diagnosis or treatment?

No.  Neurodivergent testing is optional and not required to diagnose or treat ADHD. Many individuals can be appropriately diagnosed and treated through a comprehensive clinical evaluation without formal testing.

When is neurodivergent testing recommended?

Testing is recommended when:

  • Autism and ADHD are both suspected

  • Symptoms are complex or unclear

  • Formal documentation is needed for academic or workplace accommodations

  • A detailed, structured diagnostic report is requested

What is included in the evaluation?

The evaluation typically includes:

  • Clinical interview(s)

  • Review of developmental and medical history

  • Standardized testing and behavioral observations

  • Scoring and clinical interpretation

  • A comprehensive written diagnostic report

  • Personalized recommendations

Does insurance cover Autism & ADHD testing?

No.  Neurodivergent testing is offered as a self-pay service and is not covered by insurance.

What is the cost of testing?

The total cost for a comprehensive Autism & ADHD evaluation is $1,500.

Can testing be done through telehealth?

Yes. Autism & ADHD testing may be completed virtually (telehealth) when clinically appropriate, allowing families and individuals to participate from the comfort of their home.

Will this evaluation provide documentation for school or work?

Yes. The diagnostic report may be used to support school-based accommodations (IEP/504 plans) or workplace accommodations, depending on institutional requirements.
